I was so delighted to see this lovely feature in last week’s YOU magazine! Ever since I set up shop here in Cape Town I have been noticing a lot of really lovely locally produced fabrics pop up all around me. There really is no reason to have to revert to imports when we have such a wonderful selection of all kinds of different colours and styles made and printed right here in South Africa. Thanks YOU magazine for not only supporting us, but for also actually showing us just how great a selection we have to offer! See how many of our fabrics you can spot below…
I found this somewhere in the middle of cyberspace so I sincerely apologise for not crediting the person who came up with this. But it really sums up how I feel about buying local and I hope this will implore you to as well!
You may remember a few weeks back, we invited you to the launch of a little project on Long Street called WDC 2014 POP-UP SPACE #WDC008. We are involved because we have a few of our products available to purchase from their shop which is one of the many interesting and exciting things one can find going on there. Check out the information below, along with their link, and either pop in and see what it’s all about, and/or spread the word so others can too.
“This space in 150 Long serves as a central location for the public to engage with WDC2014 projects. The space is being designed to include as many projects as possible. The inside contains a mushroom farm transforming coffee waste from Cape Town cafe’s into plant food, a shop featuring a selection of products by designers, an WDC information hub, a mobile food cafe, a mini pop-up shop offering a retail opportunity to designers and projects that don’t currently have access to retail space, and an area where people can sit, eat and work with free wifi. We have Jade De Waal doing the culinary vibes and then Department of Coffee from khayelitsha doing the hot beverages.”
And then I wanted to share this with you, my new Minty Green Mosaic Table Runner from my new range : ) has been featured in last week’s issue of YOU magazine as part of their We Love section. Hooray for new things! This item is a new design and a new product! Each table runner is 1.4m w x 40cm h and is made from a lovely thick cotton which will help transform any dining room or kitchen. You can get your hands on this one right here.
I am sure most of you know about First Thursdays Cape Town, but do you know about Third Thursdays Cape Town? Third Thursdays is the East city edition of First Thursdays, where you can explore Cape Town’s East city after hours for an evening of art, culture and great food. Art galleries and stores stay open until until 9pm. One of the places you really shouldn’t miss is ANOUK Furniture and Decor situated below the Perspectives building in Roeland Street. ANOUK offers an eclectic mix of affordable furniture and décor – old and new – catering for those in need of both basic and indulgent pieces. I was in there yesterday and there are some really beautiful pieces of antique furniture available selling at really good prices. Not only do they make a bit of a fuss for Third Thursdays by having various designers showcasing their products in the shop, but they have wine…and fun…and from this Third Thursdays onwards they will also be stocking our decorative placemats. I have attached a copy of the map for this Third Thursdays 22 May. ANOUK is no 12.
And while I’m going on about our lovely decorative placemats, this week’s YOU magazine is also giving them some love in their “We Love” feature as part of their Lifestyle section.
Firstly I want to thank everyone who came to the Stellenbosch markets over the weekend. Despite the raging black southeaster friday night eventually turned out to be a success, and saturday was even better. What a beautiful venue. I really recommend venturing out to the Stellenbosch Slowmarket for their weekly market on a saturday! Oude Libertas is really gorgeous and there don’t seem to be any queues to the toilets or ATM despite the fact that it is a really busy market. There are plenty outdoor areas to hang out on the grass with views across the vineyards, and eat cheese and drink wine, and there’s live music! I will definitely be back!
And on this pretty dreary looking monday I thought I would show you my products in the YOU magazine Christmas Gift Guide this year! How exciting! And what a great selection. My Pretty Proteas cushion cover is featured in the “In Full Bloom” collection and my Blue Origami Birds Cushion Cover is featured in the “A Natural Thing” collection. See more images below, and both are available from me here.
