Thats right, our pretty Pink Flamingo Wallpaper has been featured in the beautiful Condé Nast Traveller‘s collector’s issue and we couldn’t be more excited!!! We are also featured alongside a product of one of my all-time favourite fashion designers ever, Mary Katrantzou, who is famous for her use of crazy bright digital prints and patterns, so we’re feeling extra specially proud of this. Like we said before, these flamingoes ain’t going nowhere just yet!
Today we have a whole flamboyance of flamingo inspired things to show you! While the northern hemisphere is slowly starting to thaw out, and we’re just getting to enjoy the best part of our summer, the whole world is going crazy for these crazy beautiful birds!
We are especially excited about this really beautiful tropical inspired wedding decor shoot that Wedding Album magazine did recently using our Pink Flamingo napkins. How beautiful is this wedding spread? Makes me want to go back and do mine all over again : )
This young lady in Australia had her surfboard customised using our Pink Flamingo linen cotton fabric. How cool did this turn out? Makes me want to go surfing immediately!! Thanks so much to her for sharing these pics with us!
We are so delighted that our Pink Flamingo Wallpaper has been featured in the latest Woman & Home magazine, as part of their Home Edit! These little deco inspired birdies of ours are sure to liven up any home!
We spotted some flamingo trend forecast inspiration going on on instagram…we may be a little biased, but we’re super excited that they chose to use our design : )
And while we are at it…here are some of our favourite Etsy treasuries featuring all kinds of flamingo inspired beauties. If these don’t get you excited about flamingoes, I’m afraid nothing will!
I have some good news for all you southern suburb Cape Town peeps, Handmade By Me is now stocked by Fab Things just off Dean St in Newlands. Fab Things is a gorgeous little shop stocking all kinds of awesome locally made goods, and is a great place if you are looking for a last minute gift…or just looking to give your home or someone you care about some love.
Their manifesto, which is also written on the window of the shop, says it all…
Here’s what owner Tracey Trevelyan has to say: “The ethos of the brand is about supporting local talent, job creation and social responsibility projects in South Africa. Small quantities are sourced and new fab things introduced continuously, so that Fab fans don’t get bored, and many local designers have a platform to showcase their products. So, if you like something buy it, before it is gone! There really is no reason to import anything, we have great talent and beautifully produced, great quality products right here.”
And while I’m at it, here is a lovely little feature on “Must-have colour schemes for 2014” from South African Garden and Home magazine. It seems indigo blue is indeed the way to go this year as “classic blue and white goes contemporary”. I know Fab Things have a few of my indigo blue products in stock so pop down there if you’re looking for some on-trend inspiration : )
My Indigo Blue design is available in fabric, wallpaper, cushion covers, napkins, tea towels, aprons, bags and purses : ) All from the Handmade By Me online shop and various stockists.
Firstly, in conjunction with First Thursdays Cape Town, SAM (our awesome stockist on Bree St…as if you didn’t already know?) would like to invite you to join them for a drink and to pop in for the opening of their latest exhibition in the shop, “South African Bike Builders”.
And on a completely different note, it seems Handmade By Me scatter cushions really seem to be on trend this summer. Here, Essentials magazine has featured both my fly away birds and my birdy num num cushions as part of their “5 hot trends for your home” this January. Ah g’wan!
If you read the lovely Good Taste magazine you may have seen a small feature on me and Handmade by Me in the “Latest Looks” section which features “all the newest decor and design trends” yay I couldn’t be more delighted! and they featured my favourite Fly Away Birds cushion cover : )
Here is a closeup of my Fly Away Birds Cushion Cover…
