Its been a pretty busy last few weeks for us over at Handmade By Me! While we are working on lots of exciting things that we can’t share with you just yet, we can let you know that the lovely Giah has officially joined us as our new Junior Assistant. Thank you so much to everyone who either shared or applied for the position, and we wish Giah all the very best with her new exciting adventure into the textile and decor world : )
Now this is something that has been a LONG time coming for us!! Handmade By Me’s soon-to-be range of bedding. With all kinds of printing restrictions and issues because of the extra wide width needed for duvet covers, we have had to be a little creative in finding ways to make our bedding dreams come true! We started with a simple pillowcase and received our first prototypes last week which we got to test out over the weekend. And we are in LOVE! They are made using a beautiful soft 100% cotton poplin and will be available in a whole range of designs. Duvet covers to follow shortly. See our Pink Flamingo pillowcase in the image below. What do you think? Help us choose which designs to include in our range by letting us know which design of ours you would like to see on your bed!
And then thank you so much to Good Housekeeping magazine for sharing our lovely Shweshwe Shields purses in this month’s “the GOOD list”.
You may remember a few weeks back, we invited you to the launch of a little project on Long Street called WDC 2014 POP-UP SPACE #WDC008. We are involved because we have a few of our products available to purchase from their shop which is one of the many interesting and exciting things one can find going on there. Check out the information below, along with their link, and either pop in and see what it’s all about, and/or spread the word so others can too.
“This space in 150 Long serves as a central location for the public to engage with WDC2014 projects. The space is being designed to include as many projects as possible. The inside contains a mushroom farm transforming coffee waste from Cape Town cafe’s into plant food, a shop featuring a selection of products by designers, an WDC information hub, a mobile food cafe, a mini pop-up shop offering a retail opportunity to designers and projects that don’t currently have access to retail space, and an area where people can sit, eat and work with free wifi. We have Jade De Waal doing the culinary vibes and then Department of Coffee from khayelitsha doing the hot beverages.”
And then I wanted to share this with you, my new Minty Green Mosaic Table Runner from my new range : ) has been featured in last week’s issue of YOU magazine as part of their We Love section. Hooray for new things! This item is a new design and a new product! Each table runner is 1.4m w x 40cm h and is made from a lovely thick cotton which will help transform any dining room or kitchen. You can get your hands on this one right here.
So I am mostly excited to (almost) tell you all about our exciting new product that we have made!! I’ll give you a hint, its not made with fabric! But, it will certainly help make your dinner parties even cooler than you could imagine (and it is super affordable!! yay : ) BUT I can’t tell you what it is just yet as we are going to launch it with the CCDI at Decorex at the CTICC in Cape Town from 25th to 28th April : ) So unfortunately you will just to have to wait till then…pop into Decorex weekend after next and see for yourself, or watch this space for the unveiling!
In the meantime here are a few of Handmade By Me’s latest features…
Dawanda has released its Spring Summer 2014 Lovebook and I am so excited my Pink Flamingo cushion cover has been chosen to be featured once again, this time along with some very fruity looking tropicals : )
And my indigo blue purse has also been featured, as part of the “Essentials” section of Issue 38 of the lovely Crush online magazine. Anything that focusses on decor and cooking and looking good has a special place in my heart… along with these nifty items for some seriously grand al fresco dining! If you live in Cape Town you might agree that we have been spending alot of sunny days outdoors lately! It seems the summer ain’t going nowhere for a while…
