Red hot for February

Firstly, we are so very sorry for the very late, but rather late than never, first post of the year! It has taken us this long to get it together after a really busy start to the year with lots of lovely things that we mostly can’t talk about, or show you just yet, but if all goes according to plan we can promise you they will be worth the wait.

In the mean time, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we thought Home/Tuis magazine got it spot on with their choice of red hot décor buys for February. So happy to see our Hot Lips tea towel representing.

And while we are on the topic of love and Valentine’s Day – if you are looking for something different for that someone special – our range of Hotel Slippers may just do the trick. They are R260 a pair, available in a variety of designs, and we have sizes available for both women and men.

may media love

We have had some really great media love for the month of May and we wanted to share it all with you here. First up is this really great shoot and feature in Sarie magazine. I love what they did with my products for the shoot below, and am so very flattered to have been given a full page feature, and to be featured alongside some really talented designers.

Then Ideas magazine did a shoot using bits and pieces of fabric from local designers. See if you can spot our indigo Blue fabric featured here below.

And then one of our friends discovered one of our phone covers in the Mango Airline inflight magazine, Juice, and sent us these pics. Our lovely Midnight Blue Mosaic phone cover made it onto the Ed’s Choice : )

Don’t forget about the feature in this month’s Elle Decoration magazine that we showed you last week, where you still have a chance to win one of our Pretty Protea Chef Aprons. In case you missed it you can check it out here.

Then great news for all you Joburg peeps, we are going to be exhibiting some of our new products along with the CCDI (Cape Craft and Design Institute) at Inspire Trade Expo in Johannesburg from 10-12 June. For more info about the event, check out their website www.inspiretradeexpo.co.za

you and me and thursdays…

I am sure most of you know about First Thursdays Cape Town, but do you know about Third Thursdays Cape Town? Third Thursdays is the East city edition of First Thursdays, where you can explore Cape Town’s East city after hours for an evening of art, culture and great food.  Art galleries and stores stay open until until 9pm. One of the places you really shouldn’t miss is ANOUK Furniture and Decor situated below the Perspectives building in Roeland Street. ANOUK offers an eclectic mix of affordable furniture and décor – old and new – catering for those in need of both basic and indulgent pieces. I was in there yesterday and there are some really beautiful pieces of antique furniture available selling at really good prices. Not only do they make a bit of a fuss for Third Thursdays by having various designers showcasing their products in the shop, but they have wine…and fun…and from this Third Thursdays onwards they will also be stocking our decorative placemats. I have attached a copy of the map for this Third Thursdays 22 May. ANOUK is no 12.

And while I’m going on about our lovely decorative placemats, this week’s YOU magazine is also giving them some love in their “We Love” feature as part of their Lifestyle section.

Be my valentine…

Alot of Valentines Day related things can be pretty tacky!! Well not in my world if i can help it!! Designist (a really gorgeous interiors shop on Georges St in Dublin) were looking for locally produced designs to make into Valentines Day cards to sell in their shop. I submitted the design below and it was chosen alongside a few others to be printed. So if you’re looking for something a little unusual created by local talent this Valentine’s Day you should have a look in Designist. Each card comes with a choice of plain white, or a recycled map envelope. They cost 3 Euro each.

I must say I have really come to love this pattern, and so have decided to develop it into napkins. It would certainly make for a very sweet gift! Buy them now here at the handmade by me store on Etsy.com

Here is my design…
