Introducing…The Gallery in Riebeek Kasteel

I am delighted to introduce to you a brand new stockist, and gorgeous little gallery, situated in the heart of Riebeek Kasteel, aptly called The Gallery.

Gallery

The Gallery is situated in the historically picturesque village of Riebeek Kasteel, located just 50 minutes from Cape Town off the N7. Curated by Astrid McLeod, The Gallery features a carefully selective mix of paintings, sculptures and ceramics by established and emerging artists. It represents a variety of local art from the Riebeek Valley and the Swartland, including artists Andre van Vuuren, Solly Smook and Clare Menck to name but a few.”

They also have an exciting new fundraiser going on at the moment, where artist Solly Smook has teamed up with Pink Lady to raise money for their fund…

now available from…Quirky Country Gallery (Greyton)

I happened to be in the beautiful town of Greyton last weekend (wow I had forgotten just how much I absolutely love that place), and popped in to see one of my latest stockists Quirky Country who have literally just opened! I had no idea what to expect, and to my wonderful surprise, I just fell in love with this beautiful little modern art gallery nestled in the heart of the town. The artwork on display is an affordable treat to the senses, with some seriously desirable illustrations and paintings, some interesting multi-medium artworks, and even a few creatively interactive pieces, all made by local(ish) artists from all around the Cape, including Greyton. There was so much I wanted to get my hands on right then and there, but my husband and I finally settled on a great little print by David Kuijers, a local artist in Greyton. When in Rome I guess… : ) Anyways read on further for a little more information about the gallery itself…and checkout their facebook page for everything else, including more photos of the beautiful products you can expect to find there.

This is what Renzske Scholtz, one of the owners of the gallery had to say about her dream becoming a reality: “We moved to Greyton 2 years ago in order to give our 5 year old twin boys a better, healthier outdoorsy life style. I was working at SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch and had just finished my masters degree at UCT in Fine Art. My dream has always been to curate and direct my own little gallery, showcasing interesting ‘affordable’ art as well as stocking beautiful handmade products, so it was just a matter of waiting for the right space. I Love all things Quirky! About a month ago I found it and Quirky Country Gallery was born. Our opening exhibition showcases a mix of Greyton, Overberg and Cape Town artists including David Kuijers, Caroline Gibello, Alastair Barnes, Nicolene Swanepoel, Richard Smith and Carl Becker. Then we stock selected handmade products like Handmade By Me, Keiskamma embroidered botanical bags and cushion covers, Inge Marais Jewellery and a few other things.”

You can find them at 49 Ds Botha street, Greyton.
