Morning! What a wet and rainy way to start the day here in Cape Town this morning. An unexpected welcome after I managed to sunburn my arms quite badly while trawling the milnerton market for treasures on saturday. Oh the troubles of living in a sunny country : ) Anyways I just wanted to let you all know that there are some exciting new handmade by me products on the way soon!! I can’t say too much just yet but they will be sure to brighten up your home! ; ) Unfortunately they probably won’t be here in time for Christmas but finally something to look forward to in January!! Watch this space!
And speaking of Christmas, please note that the closing date for all “make to order” christmas giftwrap and delivery lists is this sunday the 18th of November! After that, everything will be available while stocks last and I am going to be selling my products at quite a few exciting christmas markets (which I will keep you all up to date with) so I am hoping they won’t last very long! So the sooner the better to avoid disappointment and potential “silly season” delays.
And with that thought, I would like to share with you my AMAZING feature in one of my favourite magazines Condé Nast House & Garden. I am trully honoured and delighted to be a part of their November issue’s discoveries section! Thanks for the super lovely mention!!
The full range of Handmade By Me products is now available from Green Elephant Collective. As you all know all Handmade By Me fabrics are printed onto 100% natural fibre textiles using eco-friendly dyes so we qualify to be a part of something really good which aims to really try and push the boundaries of design, while keeping in mind our current fragile climate.
“Green Elephant Collective was founded by Ute Faurein, the self-proclaimed ninja, in 2011 as an online resource and shopping platform for South African made green designs and lifestyle products. We do not stock organic food or eco-friendly cleaning product stuff. Only cool green designed lifestyle products, created locally. That is it.
Green Elephant Collective’s core mission is to promote positive actions through selling great green design lifestyle goods. Just because a product is termed green and perhaps made from recycled materials it does not need to have the aesthetic aspect overlooked. That is why our focus is on quality and uniqueness of the goods we stock.”
And that they do! Even I was most surprisingly impressed with the wide variety of gorgeous items to buy! From fashion to homewares and everything inbetween it is definitely worth having a look. And there’s the added pleasure of feeling just a little less guilty if you occasionally indulge those retail therapy urges!
I am delighted to see my Pink Flamingo! Tea Towel has made it into the Good Taste magazine. A lovely piece written about We Heart This, one of Handmade By Me’s favourite stockists, if you haven’t had a chance to visit this lovely online store do so now, there are plenty of lovely christmas items just waiting to be delivered straight to your door!
And I still can’t believe it! It feels like soooo long ago when I started this blog, even then I remembered thinking it probably won’t even last till then…I really can’t believe how far Handmade By Me, as a brand and as a business, has come since then. I went back and looked at some of the first blogposts I wrote, in one of them I said “Fabric designing and printing is something that really interests me and if I want to start making my own fabric for the cushions, I am also going to have to learn to sew them myself.” I laughed! Who would have thought then, that I would be where I am today! Then I laughed even more at the item I actually sewed ha ha!
Anyways I just want to thank everyone who follows my blog so much, I really appreciate the support and even if you are reading this for the first time, the fact that people come here and see whats going on and have a look at what I am doing means a lot to me.
And being the 1st day of year no 2, I couldn’t be prouder than to show you this article featured in the November issue of South African Garden And Home. I still can’t believe that there’s a photo of me in there, but I feel really encouraged to continue with what I am doing, who knows where I’ll be in another year’s time.
